Day 1 Marrakech / Essaouira
Enjoy a leisurely start today, with breakfast followed by a drive of approximately two hours to Essaouira, a picturesque fishing town that was the former Mogador and Portuguese stronghold along the Atlantic coast. This charming port has been an important stop along trade routes since Roman times and, with its exquisite beach, has become one of Morocco’s most popular coastal destinations. There is a Portuguese, French and Jewish legacy here, as well as an artistic base that has for centuries attracted musicians, painters and craftsmen from within Morocco and all over the world. It is well known for its woodcarving handicraft. After lunch in the medina, you will visit the ramparts and fortress, local woodcarvers and more. Later, stroll the beach or take an optional camel ride along the shore. Dinner will be served at your riad.
