Selected from among hundreds of adventure tour operators worldwide, Journeys was awarded a place on the Top Ten list of Do-It-All operators.
A panel of travel experts and writers selected honorees from hundreds of operators classified in six different categories. As some of you know from the calls you received, the selection process included interviews with trip participants. Thank you for your positive reports that helped us win the award. Other judging criteria included education, sustainability and quality of service.
Congratulations on an extremely well-deserved recognition. My trip last year to Antarctica was another one of a lifetime trips that I have experienced with Journeys. The first was in 1985 to Peru and then to Nepal in 1993. You are the only adventure travel company that I trust to take me to remote cultures and provide a truly meaningful experience. Almost every year since 2009, National Geographic Traveler has selected a Journeys trip for the prestigious ‘Tour of a Lifetime’ award. Journeys has also been cited by Condé Nast Traveler for eight consecutive years for multiple categories of Top Travel Specialist awards and as Best Green Travel Outfitter. Journeys, founded in Ann Arbor in 1978, offers more than 175 trips to 57 destinations around the globe.

Founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, it encourages companies and individuals to pledge 1% of their annual sales or income to environmental causes. Through this unique membership model, 1% for the Planet aims to facilitate substantial financial support for environmental initiatives around the world, fostering a network of members committed to protecting our planet. The organization represents a diverse group of industries and sectors, united in the belief that business and individuals can be a force for positive environmental impact.
Adventure Travel Trade Association
Established in 1990, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) serves more than 900 members in 80 countries worldwide. Members predominantly include tour operators, tourism boards, specialty agents and accommodations with a vested interest in the sustainable development of adventure tourism. The ATTA delivers solutions and connections that propel members towards their business goals and the industry toward a responsible and profitable future.
International LGBTQ+ Travel Association
IGLTA was founded in 1983 and is the world’s leading network of LGBTQ+ welcoming tourism businesses. They provide free travel resources and information while continuously working to promote equality and safety within LGBTQ+ tourism worldwide. IGLTA’s members include LGBTQ+ friendly accommodations, transport, destinations, service providers, travel agents, tour operators, events, and travel media located in over 80 countries.
International Galapagos Tour Operator Association
International Galapagos Tour Operator Association (IGTOA) is a nonprofit association of travel companies, conservation organizations, and other groups that seek a lasting protection of the Galapagos Islands. IGTOA lobbies for conservation, fund projects, and promote and practice sustainable tourism.
