Frequently Asked Questions about the Ann Arbor Community Trip to Israel
Q: Will all food on the trip be kosher?
A: Yes. All meals included with the group will be kosher.
Q: Is this trip appropriate for kids?
A: This trip is designed to be appropriate for children in upper elementary and above.
Q: How physically demanding will the trip be?
A: This trip is a level 2 out of 5 on the Journeys International activity scale. Activities include walking tours with stairs and uneven cobblestone paths. Optional activities include half-day hikes, zip-lining, and driving tours over bumpy roads. Modifications may be possible. Wheelchairs and motorized scooters cannot be accommodated.
Q: Can I get my own room?
A: You can reserve your own room throughout the trip for a “single supplement” charge of $1,995. If you would prefer to share a room but don’t have a travel companion, we will be happy to try to match you with a compatible roommate.
Q: Can we have more than two people in a room?
A: Children and teens can share with their parents. If you have more than two adults who would like to share a room, please contact Journeys International to ask about your situation and we can give you a personalized answer.
Q: How will you make sure that the group stays safe?
A: There is always risk inherent in travel (and in life). That said, we will monitor the security situation carefully in the lead-up to the trip and throughout the trip. We will modify travel plans to avoid areas assessed to be unsafe, and will cancel the trip 2 months in advance if the circumstances are unstable. Within two months of the trip, if things become more unsafe, we will cancel the trip.
Q: If you cancel the trip, will I get my money back?
A: Yes.
Q: If you don’t cancel the trip but I decide I feel unsafe, can I cancel for a full refund?
A: You can receive a refund if the situation becomes less safe than it was when you signed up for the trip.
Q: How many people can participate on the trip?
A: We expect between 40 and 80 participants.
Q: Does the trip price include meals?
A: Many meals are included in the trip price, but not all. See the day-by-day itinerary to view which meals are included each day of the trip.
Q: What is included in the price of the trip?
A: The listed price includes hotels, activities and admission prices for everything listed, all meals listed, guides throughout the trip, and trip preparation materials. The price does not include international airfare, travel insurance, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, bottled water, meals and drinks for meals not listed as included, hotel accommodations before the first day of the trip or on the final “departure” day of the trip, laundry, or any other personal or discretionary expenses.
