Conversation by Zoom
Three thought leaders will zoom in from Africa to share their experiences being black in America compared to what they see and feel at home in Kenya, Senegal, and Uganda.
- April N. Baskin is a diversity, equity, and inclusion coach. She worked as the Vice President of Audacious Hospitality for the Union for Reform Judaism and as the Racial Justice Director for the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable before starting her own consulting practice called Joyous Justice. April lived most of her life in the United States before recently moving to Senegal.
- James Makau Nzioka is an entrepreneur and naturalist in Kenya and owns Wilderness Zones Safaris. Makau is one of Journeys longest friends and partners. He travels to the USA frequently and lives in Nairobi.
- Paul Tamwenya, owner of Journeys Uganda, is our senior naturalist guide in Rwanda and Uganda, a preeminent birder and environmental educator, and founder of the Birds of a Feather NGO that sponsors education for Ugandan children while teaching environmental values and career skills. He has traveled throughout the eastern USA and will call in from home in Kampala.
This is a moment when connecting with each other, reflecting on big questions, and learning beyond our comfort zones are incumbent. They are also central to Journeys’ core values. There will be lots of time for respectful, open Q&A. We hope you will discover new perspectives with us.
